National Oil Ethiopia expands fuel operations in partnership with Q8Aviation

National Oil Ethiopia (NOC), with the support of Q8Aviation, has expanded its aviation operations by establishing a jet fuel service at Assosa and Gambella airports in the west of Ethiopia.

NOC, Ethiopia’s largest private oil company, entered the aviation fuel supply business in 2010with the launch of re-fuelling facilities at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. As NOC’s partner, Q8Aviation provides a comprehensive range of technical and sales services to support NOC’s growing aviation business.

Nick Nigel, Market Development Manager for Q8Aviation, says: “Q8Aviation has worked with NOC since it first started jet fuel operations. It is particularly satisfying to be associated with this expansion because NOC in partnership with the Government of Ethiopia is focused on investing in areas of Ethiopia that have in the past been left behind.”

Nic Mason, Technical Services Manager for Q8Aviation adds: “We are delighted to strengthen our ties with NOC. The company’s professionalism and strong commitment to achieving exacting standards of service makes our partnership highly rewarding.”

Shisema Shewaneka, Chief Operating Officer of NOC, comments: “Our new operations at Assosa and Gambella airports are a significant step in NOC’s ambitious plans to develop our aviation business. Q8Aviation’s expertise in fuel operations is invaluable in helping us to achieve the highest standards in providing jet fuel to our customers.”

Assosa and Gambella airports are respectively located in the states of Benishangul-Gumuz and Gambella, which border the new country of South Sudan. It is anticipated that NOC’s new fuel service will benefit the economy of both countries.

This area of Ethiopia is ripe for expansion and its highly fertile land has attracted significant investment in agricultural projects from organisations around the world. A number of major infrastructure projects are also underway, including the construction of the Grand Millennium Dam on the Blue Nile which, when completed in 2015, will be Africa’s largest hydroelectric power plant and the 10th largest in the world.

In addition to supplying jet fuel to airlines at more than 50 airports worldwide, Q8Aviation offers technical services to organisations ranging from major oil companies to individual into-plane operators.
