Q8Aviation adds Ostend to its growing regional network

Q8Aviation has launched a jet fuel service at Ostend-Bruges International Airport and secured a contract as sole supplier for charter operator Freebird Airlines.

Ostend is the fourth airport in Belgium served by Q8Aviation, joining Brussels, Brussels South Charleroi and Liege airports. Located 6km from Ostend, it focuses on freight transport but is increasingly used by charter airlines.

Julian Amesbury, Commercial Director at Q8Aviation, comments: “Our entry into Ostend reflects our strategy to strengthen our network of regional airports across Europe, which directly benefits our customers. It also maximises the use of our dedicated import facilities at Rotterdam, which have helped make Q8Aviation Europe’s largest importer of jet fuel.”

Established in 2000, Freebird Airlines operates passenger and cargo charter flights across Europe and the Middle East with a fleet of eight Airbus aircraft.

Taner Pilavci, Financial Director of Freebird Airlines, says: “We are delighted to award this contract to Q8Aviation. Our experience of working with Q8Aviation has been entirely positive and on the basis of a series of factors, notably their excellent customer service, we were keen to expand our business with them.”

The new fuelling operation at Ostend will be handled on Q8Aviation’s behalf by into-plane company Skytanking.
