Q8Aviation recently hosted a virtual Technical Workshop for more than 80 clients from countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Held annually to discuss changes and issues in the aviation fuel sector, this was the first time the workshop had been held online, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sessions over three days were led by Q8Aviation Technical Director Nic Mason, supported by Technical Services Managers Bill Simpson, Olan Ryan and Paul Carmody, together with BMS Manager Robert Finch. Martin Hunnybun, Head of Good Practice – Fuels & Fuel Handling at the Energy Institute, was welcomed as a guest speaker.

In addition to the impact of the COVID-19 crisis and plans for a safe return to normal operations, other topics discussed included imminent changes to filtration standards, sustainable aviation fuel, fuel quality management and Q8Aviation’s training programme.

The workshop was warmly received by delegates; one person described it as “a very good experience, especially in the current situation” and another said: “the presentations were designed smartly and delivered intelligently. The knowledge delivered and the time management was excellent by all the presenters.”

Nic Mason commented: “We were delighted with the success of the workshop. Although it was disappointing not being able to meet in person, we appreciated seeing our clients online and enjoyed the social interaction and mutual learning. There were benefits to holding a virtual meeting in that many more delegates could attend and the level of interaction was excellent.”
