Q8Aviation supports successful JIG Workshops

Two Joint Inspection Group (JIG) workshops held in Thailand this month – one for site managers and one for JIG inspectors – were highly rated by attendees, with the former ranking amongst JIG’s top three highest-scoring workshops.

Each was well attended by oil company and aviation fuelling service company representatives, who had the opportunity to hear from industry experts on a range of technical issues and to share their experiences and best practice.

The workshops were opened by Andy Wells of the JIG Council, with Q8Aviation involved in delivering presentations and leading group discussions. Presentations were made by Nic Mason, technical services manager and Robert Finch, business management systems manager. Nic is chairman of the JIG Operations Committee and Robert heads the JIG HSSE Committee.

Nic shared his expertise on equipment, including hydrant pit couplers and aircraft fuelling hoses, and explained the industry guidelines for cleaning the tanks and lines of marine tank vessels carrying petroleum products. Robert’s presentations included an outline of JIG’s HSSE Management System Standard, launched in 2016, and JIG’s requirements for incident reporting.

Robert Finch commented: “These highly-regarded workshops are an important part of JIG’s objective to drive up standards in handling aviation fuel and we are delighted to share our knowledge with others in the industry.”
